BRITISH ASSOCIATION FOR IMMEDIATE CARE
Founded in 1977
The British Association for Immediate Care is a charitable company limited by guarantee, registered with the Charity Commission and with Companies House.
Members are drawn from a number of the health care professions, particularly medicine, nursing and paramedicine, as well as others who work or volunteer within pre-hospital care. We have many long term members, including some who joined us at our inception in 1977. Not all of our members are immediate care responders in an affiliated BASICS scheme.
The Association provides a focus for those interested in developing their pre-hospital practice and supports this through its annual conference and a range of internationally recognised courses.
Of course no membership association would be complete without a range of discounts and other benefits. Our membership offer includes discounts on our conference, online workshops and training courses. There are also discounts with industry leading suppliers (for example medical/training equipment, consumables, bags/backpacks), new vehicles and insurance (including specialist blue light cover). Members and their families benefit from a Health and Wellbeing package which includes access to counselling sessions, digital support programmes (such as Computerised Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and menopause support) and telephone helplines (money management, debt support, emotional support and personal legal information). You can find full details of member benefits here.
As a charity our governance arrangements are an important part of our accountability to the relevant authorities, our trustees, the membership and our funding partners.
